Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety - March 17

Under current weather conditions, the remaining snow will continue melting with increased intensity. The watercourses will continue responding with further increases in water levels and flows, reaching or exceeding their banks. Some nuisance flooding due to accumulation of water in low-lying areas, areas with poor drainage, road ditches can be expected. However, no widespread flooding problems are anticipated at this time.

Environment Canada forecasts that the daytime air temperatures during the next 5 days will remain above the freezing mark, returning to below-freezing overnight. Additionally, mixed precipitation, including up to 10 cm of snow are expected today. In these conditions, the snowpack will continue melting very gradually, sustaining, but not increasing the elevated water levels in local rivers and streams. No flooding problems are expected at this time.

'When Spring Comes' arrives along the Story Walk Trail at Ken Reid Conservation Area

Posted on Thursday, June 16, 2022 10:36 AM

APRIL 4, 2022 – As sunshine and warm weather return after a long, cold winter, visitors to Ken Reid Conservation Area can now read ‘When Spring Comes’, the newly featured story along the Story Walk trail, for the entire month of April.

Written by Kevin Henkes, ‘When Spring Comes’ is the perfect read for children and families excited about the return of spring, and with snow melting, flowers blooming, and birds chirping throughout the conservation area, there is no better time or place to read it.
